President Muhammadu Buhari lauded the Itsekiri nation on the choice of a new Olu of Warri.
The kigmakers had on Saturday led by the Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom announced the choice of Prince Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko as the new Olu to succeed the late occupant Ogiame Ikenwoli who died recently.
Reacting to the development, Buhari in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina also expressed his condolences to the Itsekiri kingdom on the death of Ogiame Ikenwoli.
“The President also condoles with the Itsekiris on the passage of the immediate past Olu, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli, which was equally formally announced.
“President Buhari prays that the Olu-designate, Prince Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko, will have a peaceful reign, signposted by massive development of Itsekiri land. “ the statement reads.
On the way forward, the president admonished the new monarch to love and seek reconciliation amongst his people “after a pulsating race for the throne, noting that peradventure any dissension exists, such should be resolved through due process.”
