Several media houses practising in Nigeria were shut out of the coverage of the trial of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnmadi Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In a letter dated July 23, 2021 and signed by the Chief Information Officer of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja, Catherine Oby Christopher, marked FHC/ABJ/INFO/026, it was expressly stated that only 10 media houses will be allowed into the court premises for the trial taking place today.
The accredited media houses are: The Nation, Premium Times, AIT, NTA, TVC, Channels, Thisday, Daily Independent, The Herald and NAN.
Other media houses were barred from entering the court premises.
