Both Hausa motorcyclists and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, confronted themselves in the early hours of Monday at Iyana-Iba area of Ojo in Lagos.

What started as a little clash degenerated into ethnic clash after a Hausa motorcyclist was allegedly beaten and stabbed to death.

Eye witnesses account said the clash began when Hausa motorcyclists mobilized their counterparts to resist incessant harassment by the road union members.

The fight which began with exchange of stones between members of the union and the motorcyclists, soon degenerated into a full-blown crisis, as sporadic gunshots were heard at the scene, while passersby scampered for safety.

As at the time of filing this report, both sides were mobilizing for a fresh onslaught after security operatives fired few gunshots to scare the warring sides
